What is a Buccal Facial? I had one myself to see what the fuss is about

In the ever-evolving world of beauty & skincare, new treatments & techniques constantly emerge, promising youthful and radiant skin. One treatment has gained significant attention & celebrity praise in recent years, but you may still be asking yourself, what is a buccal facial?

I was lucky enough to secure an appointment with April Brodie, one of Australia's most respected integrated facialists, to see what all the fuss is about.

Buccal facials, also known as buccal massages or intraoral massages, involve massaging the muscles inside the mouth. It may sound a bit unusual, but when done correctly, it can yield impressive results.

Unlike traditional facials that focus solely on the skin's surface, buccal facials target the muscles responsible for facial expression, taking a holistic view of facial rejuvenation. Many experts claim this addresses the root cause of aging.

Over time, repetitive facial movements, stress, and other factors can lead to muscle tension and tightness, which can contribute to wrinkles and sagging skin.

Buccal facials work to release this tension, allowing the face to appear more relaxed and youthful.

Beyond the aesthetic benefits, buccal facials can also have therapeutic effects.

They can help alleviate symptoms of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, a condition that causes pain and discomfort in the jaw area. By targeting the muscles around the mouth and jaw, buccal massages can provide relief and improve overall facial muscle function.

The cost:

April's cost ranges from $495-$600 pending treatment.

This treatment is for you if:

  • You carry tension in your neck & shoulders

  • You're after a LUXURY experience, not just a skin treatment, this felt like the ultimate act of self care

  • You love a remedial massage

Buccal facials have a distinct advantage in terms of product absorption. Since the massage is performed from the inside, it can enhance the absorption of skincare products, making them more effective. This means that the expensive serums and creams you invest in can yield better results when combined with buccal facials.

Like any medical or cosmetic procedure, it's essential to do your research and consult with a qualified practitioner who can provide a thorough assessment and address your concerns. From my personal experience, I can ABSOLUTELY recommend April Brodie.
