Olympic Basketball champion Lauren Jackson has returned to the basketball court following her ongoing battle with chronic pain after she was officially granted a Therapeutic Use Exemption late last year.
Lauren Jackson sat down with Jordy to talk about her career ending injury on the podcast.
The former Australian Opals legend retired from the court in 2016 due to injuries from years of elite
competition and was prescribed medicinal cannabis in a bid to help ease her symptoms and pain as she
started training for a comeback.
“The road to recovery with medicinal cannabis has absolutely been emotional but it’s also been the best journey,” said Lauren.
“Medicinal cannabis needs to be talked about more frequently and I definitely still think it does have a
prominent stigma, particularly in sport".
Considered one of the world’s best female basketball players of all time, Ms Jackson joined the Sports
Science Company Levin Health’s Sports Advisory Board in 2022 to help address the broader issue of chronic pain from sport but also the stigma surrounding medicinal cannabis.
What do you think? Does medicinal cannabis have a place in sport?
