Aesthetic injectables expert Sylvia Crouch shares the major tell tale signs for when it’s time to dissolve your lip filler.
Nurse Sylvia and her team of expertly trained cosmetic nurses at Angel Aesthetics specialise in lip filler treatments, and if there’s anyone who knows about lip filler it’s certainly Sylvia and her team of Angels.
She’s dished up five reasons that mean it’s time to dissolve your lip filler and start fresh.
Filler migration: An obvious one, as it’s usually visible even to the untrained eye. This is where the filler moves from where it was initially placed, for 9/10 patients the cause is due to an insufficient amount of tissue to hold the injected filler.
Uneven/Lumpy lips: More filler will never correct filler already there, so don’t wait too long if you notice any lumps, as this could be filler settling into tissue pockets. Don’t forget - lumps can be massaged out within 4 weeks of your treatment, which avoids the need to dissolve.
Filler overload: The ‘duck lip’ is a well-known, tell-tale sign of bad filler. The biggest cause is usually your injector being unable or unwilling to say no. This is why we recommend building in stages, and never go beyond 1ml in one sitting.
Pain / Discomfort: If you are experiencing any pain, tingling, lumps or other symptoms that appear after your lip filler treatment, it’s time to contact your treating nurse as this could be indicative of a reaction that needs dissolving.
Change the lip appearance: Just like above, more filler isn’t able to correct filler already there. If you want to change the shape or projection, Sylvia recommends working with a blank canvas to achieve your desired look.
